Day 51-54 - Sedona, Arizona

We are in beautiful Sedona.  Neither of us had even heard of Sedona but wow, is it nice!  The red rock formations are incredible.  The town is very quaint, with most buildings and houses in the red sand color of the local terrain.  Yesterday we took a very rough Jeep tour up into the hills (it is absolutely incredible what kids can sleep through!) and visited national monuments where Native Americans built incredible houses high in the rocks (incredible engineering).

Today we saw more canyons and red rock formations...they name all the formations (better for tourism that way I'm sure)...there is Coffee Pot rock, Cathedral rocks, Snoopy, etc.  John sees quite different things in the rocks and usually can't figure out why they were named what they are.  I think he has sun stroke or something else! I usually get a good laugh trying to figure out how he sees what he does!

We also did a bit of a risky adventure today.  We went on a helicopter ride of the canyons and formations.  It wasn't risky because it was a helicopter - it was risky because poor Jack Jack still has diarrhea...I won't get into it.  But the ride was uneventful on that side of things (thank goodness) and super cool on every other side of things.  We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Came back early to enjoy some relaxing time in the campground (and we ran out of diapers in our daypack for the second day in a row!).

Heading up to the Grand Canyon area tomorrow but we will be taking it slow in hopes that Jack feels better soon.

You should check the tires on "The Coupe", they must be ready for a rotation at least! Sedona sounds very cool...and the Camp Ground looks pretty comfy! Is Gus on Roids or what? "The freakin size of him"! We are having great weather here in Cowtown; Frank and Keigan are off golfing tomorrow and Keara and I are going to get the Garden in shape...We will look forward to your next post.

Glad to hear thing are still going (relatively) well - diaper issues aside...
Jack is such a cutie - those blue eyes!
We're hanging in here. Work, eat, sleep. Ah, the daily grind.
Take care!

Sedona looks awesome! And the picture of Jack with all the trucks on his lap is hilarious! It is raining here today (and for the rest of the week!), so it makes it hard to look at your fun warm pictures!! Will you be taking a raft ride down the Colorado river when you get to the Grand Canyon? have you met some interesting fellow motorhomers? Do you think you'll ever want to come back and work again, or are you going to stay on the road, and be seasonal workers... pick fruit and shear sheep or something???? Ahhh... the life. I can just imagine your daily conversations "Gee honey, it's a lot of hardwork roasting marshmallows on the fire. And we better get lots of rest tonight because tomorrow is another hard day of taking amazing pictures of breathtaking canyons, and playing with our adorable son Jack, and sunning ourselves and taking fun outings like helicopter rides". Uh-huh...

Oh ya- I have to tell you that Billy and I have got our holiday arranged! We are going to Rwanda to the Virunga volcanoes (Dianne Fossey's old hang-out), after jen's wedding. Gorilla trekking, here we come! But you know, it probably won’t be that shocking to see a bunch of primates… afterall, I did work with John Manson for many years. They both scratch themselves in odd places, and both sometimes walk on all fours (like when leaving FATS for home?)! Anyway, the holiday will be great and I’m already reading anything and everything I can about Rwandan culture and gorillas and monkeys. I think I might make Billy watch Gorillas in the Mist this weekend! Talk to you soon.
